The foundations of secure writing skills begin in the Early Years with mark making and fine motor development, continue throughout the ReadWrite Inc programme that we use in EYFS and KS1 and beyond into KS2. Spelling, puncutation and grammar skills are taught progressively throughout the school and we expect that children's writing standards will remain consistently high whatever the subject or focus for the writing.
The Progression Map below sets out the expected journey a learner at Wilstead will take in order to become a fluent and confident writer.
