House Names

It was discussed and requested by many that we update the house names to local and inspirational athletes. We asked students to research their favourite local athletes and persuade us as to why we should choose them to represent each house. And here they are...

Radcliffe
Paula Radcliffe is a long distance and cross-country runner; she represented England and Great Britain and Northern Ireland in many different events. She held the world record for the quickest marathon ran by a female runner for 16 years! She won 13 marathons and half marathons as well as 15 medals in other distances!

Rutherford

Greg Rutherford is a professional long jump athlete. He represented Great Britain and Northen Ireland for 10 years. He won 8 medals in the Olympics, Commonwealth Games, European Championships and World Championships.

Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton is a 7-time World Champion! As a result, he was knighted by The Queen and is now Sir Lewis Hamilton. He started his professional F1 career in 2007, driving for McLaren. He won his first title in 2008 to become the then-youngest champion in the history of the sport.

Pendleton

Victoria Pendleton represented Great Britain and Northern Ireland in track cycling. She has won 16 World Championship Medals, 2 Commonwealth Medals and 3 Olympic Medals!!
