Remembrance 2020

This year, the children focused on Remembrance through art and poetry. Here is a selection of their work, and a link to the Remembrance Assembly.

Here is a selection of pictures created by year 2 using oil pastels. Year 2’s topic this half term is war and remembrance, and so we used this lesson as an introduction into the topic. The children learned the different meanings and reasons behind the different coloured poppies and then drew pictures, using their own colours to represent other lives lost at war.

Yellow, for the women who lost their lives doing the jobs that men would usually do, but couldn’t as they had gone to war.

Rainbow poppy to represent the fact the everyone who was in the war was different and unique.

And the different heights were used to represent the different lengths of time people experienced war.

Here is a slideshow of Year 3's watercolour paintings of a poppy field

Year 4's artwork, also using watercolour paints

Year 5's collaborative pastel designs

Halloween 2020
We decided to hold a Virtual Pumpkin Carving Competition this year, with categories for Children, Staff and Parents! The standards were EXTREMELY high - what a creative and competitive community we are!

Children's entries - Children from Reception to Year 6!

Parent Entries - we know that secretly they enjoyed it even more than the children!

Staff Entries - we really enjoyed making these!

Everyone a Reader!
Have you ever wondered what the Wilstead Staff like to do with their time off? They love to read! Look at all the unusual places they find to do this, too!
