Remembrance 2020
This year, the children focused on Remembrance through art and poetry. Here is a selection of their work, and a link to the Remembrance Assembly.
Here is a selection of pictures created by year 2 using oil pastels. Year 2’s topic this half term is war and remembrance, and so we used this lesson as an introduction into the topic. The children learned the different meanings and reasons behind the different coloured poppies and then drew pictures, using their own colours to represent other lives lost at war.
Yellow, for the women who lost their lives doing the jobs that men would usually do, but couldn’t as they had gone to war.
Rainbow poppy to represent the fact the everyone who was in the war was different and unique.
And the different heights were used to represent the different lengths of time people experienced war.
