Welcome to Wilstead Primary School, we hope you enjoy looking through our website and welcome any feedback you have. The Website will have content added regularly over the coming weeks so keep checking back.
This term we are introducing a new Computing Scheme of Work, which is organised in two parts called Teach Computing and Project Evolve.
Why Teach Computing?
Teach Computing is the Primary Education curriculum designed and resourced by the National Centre for Computing Education (NCCE) and funded by the Department for Education. Its introduction marks significant investment in improving the provision of computing education in England.
(NCCE) aims to transform the way computing is taught in schools across the country – and enable more young people to benefit from studying this important subject. Through this, we believe that their skills and career opportunities will be enhanced.
At Wilstead we strongly believe that children need a broad and secure knowledge and understanding of the technology that surrounds them. Like NCCE, we believe that everyone should feel included and encouraged when engaging with computing education.
Why Project Evolve?
As well as teaching children the skills to use technology, we believe that it is essential to teach them how to stay safe in a connected world. Project Evolve is based on Education for a Connected World and covers knowledge, skills, behaviours and attitudes across our online lives from early years right through to eighteen, designed to align with the ages and stages of children's development.
These two schemes are taught alongside each other, with the theme of staying safe underpinning every opportunity our children have to use the technologies available to them.

Values-Based Education
The values of Communication, Respect and Curiosity have particular weight within the computing curriculum, which supports children to work together, respect each others' contributions, thoughts and emotions and enhance researching skills and abilities.
Children also have the opportunity to discuss their understanding of the values of Teamwork, Friendship and Accountability as they learn more about coding, emails and online safety.
